To Be Crucified with Christ

To be crucified with Christ is to die to oneself. It is a painful, often lonely experience. It involves a surrendering of control and plans, going outside of my comfort zone, enduring judgement (by others) and possibly humiliation. But most importantly it means NEVER being forsaken by the Father, and a oneness with Christ that is unlike any relationship you have ever had or ever will have on earth.

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Romans 6:4-8 "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. "
We can "walk in a newness of life" we can't live according to our old self/life - that life no longer exists - we are a different person "in Christ". We are united in Christ! Praise Him for that! Death frees us from sin (verse 7) which is why being crucified with Christ is so important.

Colossians 2:13-14 "And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross."
Our sins (our record of debt) has been nailed to the cross and it died with Christ there.

Colossians 3:1-4 "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory."

Think on the things that you are facing and dealing with, with an eternal perspective and value. It is in heaven and eternity that our life that is "hidden with Christ in God" is.
