Happy Birthday Baby Girl

This is a day late, but I wanted to hop on-line to wish our little girl a Happy Golden Month Birthday. Alexa turned 8 months yesterday, on the 8th.

(This was in early February 2009, 7 months old)

What an incredible ride it has been. I wish that I would have gotten this out yesterday (on her exact birthday) but as you can imagine, I'm a little behind with everything right now. It appears as though the world doesn't stop just because we are moving :) Side Note: A funky little fact about our family: we moved at the exact same age with Treyton 3 years ago.
Tim and I were talking just the other day about how fast time has gone since Lexie was born. I thought that Treyton grew so fast, but it seems like nothing compared to Alexa. Even though it has gone quickly, I'm so happy/lucky to have this blog and my baby journal to record all the changes are taking place (if you have little ones I highly recommend at least a calendar to record things on as they happen, so that you don't forget, because trust me you will).

Developmentally Alexa has gone through huge changes and a growth spurts in the last few weeks. We noticed her third tooth a week ago, and yesterday we saw where the fourth one will be coming in. It hasn't popped through yet, but it will be in the next week for sure. Lexie is crawling all over the place. She can get anywhere she wants to go at a pretty quick speed, it's surprising to me how quickly she has taken off. Of course I think she is the most adorable crawler, she typically crawls on all fours but every now and then she will prop one of her legs up to the side and crawl just like her big brother used to crawl, priceless. Lexie also started pulling herself up to standing about 2 weeks ago. She can do it anytime she wants now, it's not surprising to walk into her room in the morning or after naptime and for her to be standing there, bouncing and smiling at you. She's not real great at balance yet and she thinks that she can do anything (like not hold on with two hands), and it has proven a hard lesson to learn that she's, ahem, not :) While I think it will be a while before a first step happens, she did manage to take 2 1/2 steps along the couch on Thursday. I was shocked, and I think she was too, because I haven't been able to get her to do it since! However, that was how Treyton learned to walk, at ten months he took his first step away from the couch and within a month he was cruising all over. (I suddenly had a flashback, YIKES, I'm so not ready for this :))

Lexie is also making lots of new sounds everyday and when she cries sometimes it actually sounds like she is saying "Ohhhhh MaaaMaaa" which is just adorable to me, and usually works for me to come over and pick her up (or fix whatever it is she is crying about). Right now, she is sitting on the floor at my feet saying "MMMMaaa" "MMMMuuuu" "MMMMaaa" "MMMMuuu" it really sound like she is trying to say "Mom"... how cute!!

She must be about to go through a growth spurt.... which is surprising as well, because I swear she just went through one, but she is eating like a mad woman!! At night for dinner she eats a #2 food, a handful of stars (or more), 8 oz. of formula, then I breast feed her and put her down to bed. She then will wake up between 12:30 and 3:00 absolutely starving at which point she will take another 8 ounces! I'm certain that Treyton must have eaten just as much, but for Lexie it seems like alot, especially considering that a few weeks ago she would eat a #2 and breastfeed before dinner and make it just as long during the night (if not longer).

I'm sure most of you have gotten more details than you needed about little miss Lexie, but to be honest I just can't say enough about her!!

She has the most fun personality, I was kind of hoping for a quiet one this time around, but I'm pretty sure I got another spunky one, which is also proving to be okay by me!! Alexa has quite the charming personality. If she comes into a room with new people she will likely wave and smile. If you say any word with a "Pa" sound you may set her into a fit of laughter and giggles (right now her favorite word is "poopy", which we discovered on our ride home from Florida... good times).

Some of Alexa's favorite things: being thrown into the air by daddy, licking her brother, and being held by mommy. She also like water bottles and other small household toys (but not so interested in the typical "fisher price/little tikes" toys), a cardboard box is more likely to entertain than any traditional toys.

I'm attaching a few pictures of the last 8 months: Hope you enjoy!
