Texas Trip Part 6: Louisiana

This is a continuation of our vacation series :)

Saturday, May 10th - Crawfish Boil

After leaving San Antonio, we headed East to visit my dad in Baton Rouge.

IMG 8119

Papa Mike planned a special crawfish boil just for our visit!!

IMG 8122

Papa Mike is a big goof ball. Poor Ms. Diana :)

IMG 8125

Because there was a chance of rain, Dad planned the crawfish boil at his friend, Daryl's house. They had lot's of fun things for the kids to do, including a trampoline!!

IMG 8131

The kids really liked playing with the poor little crawfish before they were boiled.

IMG 8141

We had three bags…. more than we needed but they were soooo good. Papa Mike sent the extras home with us.

IMG 8144

Papa Mike had met Titus when we has in the hospital last November for his heart attack, but this was the first time her really got to hold him and play with him.

Sunday, May 11th - Swamp Tour

Originally Tim wasn't so sure about the Swamp tour, but I had told him how neat it was so he agreed to do it.

IMG 8163

It didn't take too long and he realized I was right!!

IMG 8165

We saw lots of birds, bugs and over 30 alligators.

IMG 8167

Sadly, Audrey ended up getting stung by a red wasp, and since then has had a fear of certain bugs. She handled it pretty well, considering how badly it hurts to get stung.

IMG 8179

We saw lots of alligators yawning, and just hanging out in the sun.

IMG 8180

We got lots of really cool pictures.

IMG 8184

IMG 8191

The kids enjoyed it.

IMG 8197

Treyton remembers it from the last time we went - he still talks about it and that was back in October 2011.

IMG 8200

IMG 8206

Treyton was excited to get some spanish moss.

IMG 8217

This turtle was pretty cute - "chilaxin" (as Alexa would say), just hanging out kickin' his legs up.

IMG 8225

IMG 8223

I love the culture of Louisiana, I really do. I wish we were able to visit more, I want my kids to experience it as much as they can.

IMG 8234

We are blessed to be able to stay with my dad when we do visit, to keep the expenses down and to be able to spend as much time as we can with him.

Monday, May 12th - Leaving

IMG 8245

It's always hard to leave, but we're so grateful for the time we got to spend with Papa Mike and Ms. Diana.

Texas Trip Part 5: Sea World

This is a continuation of our vacation series :)

Thursday, May 8th - Sea World

We started our morning at Sea World by feeding the dolphins. AWESOME!

IMG 7997

Papa got three trays of fish for $15, and shared them with us and the Deich family.

IMG 8001

The kids really enjoyed touching the dolphins.

IMG 8005

And so did Tim and I.

IMG 8007

IMG 8010

It was a rather warm and muggy day the day we were there, probably the warmest of all the days we were in Texas.

IMG 8015

In spite of the heat, we had a lot of fun.

We were able to meet Shamu....

IMG 8029

Ride a few rides….

IMG 8040

go round and round on the carousel….

IMG 8047

…. and spend quality time together.

IMG 8055

One of the highlights for the day was eating lunch with Shamu.

IMG 8058

It was an up front and personal experience with 3 of the Shamu whales and their trainers.

IMG 8061

We enjoyed a buffet style lunch of jambalaya, ribs and chicken, macaroni and cheese, salad, lots of sweets and cookies.

IMG 8083

We got to ask the trainers lots of questions and learned a lot about the whales.

IMG 8089

In the end, the shows were the biggest highlights for the kids. Treyton loved the high divers, and Alexa loved the whales. It was a really great day. If you ask the kids what there favorite part of Texas is, they would probably say Sea World.

Texas Trip Part 4: Family

This is a continuation of our vacation series :)

Wednesday Afternoon, May 7th

We were blessed to find and rent an 8 bedroom house, with a pool on the river!!

IMG 7910

We had 5 families staying there but each family was still able to have their own, personalized vacation, coming and going as each were able; but we wanted to be sure that we had some time where we could all be together as well.

We planned a special afternoon for our entire family to hang out together.

IMG 7911

We grilled out, had an air hockey tournament (organized by Treyton) swam in the pool and the kids spent several hours just running around the yard.

IMG 7940

We got lots of great family pictures and pictures of the cousins. I am so glad we got them!! They all turned out super cute!!

IMG 7923

A serious… and a goofy picture of the entire clan!!

IMG 7930

I love my man, I mean seriously, what a dork!

IMG 7932

Our kids are so blessed to have so many cousins, and not only that there are so many, but they are close with all of them and each of them have very special and unique relationships. I pray God continues to bless their relationships and that they remain strong throughout their lives.

IMG 7936

Alexa loved her new jacket and called it her "super suit" and insisted on wearing it even though it was close to 80 degrees out.

IMG 7942

Alexa and Ava are 6 weeks apart - and are two adorable little girls (if I do say so myself).

IMG 7951

(below) The first set of cousins, Emma and Treyton. We include Trent in the first "set" of cousins, and although he wasn't there to take the picture he was in all of our hearts and certainly not forgotten. He is dearly loved and missed by all of us.

IMG 7960

Treyton is intent on outgrowing, Emma, I swear it is one of his "goals in life". These two are almost exactly a year apart (2 weeks shy I believe), and Emma has always been nearly a foot taller than Treyton, he is determined to catch up and pass her…. sooner than later if he had his way!!

The second "set" of cousins born within 6 weeks of one another: Sawyer (July 2nd) Alexa (July 8th) and Ava (August 11th)

IMG 7953

The third set of cousins - the 3 year olds (though Mason is not quite 3 yet, the girls are)

Brenna (March 8th) Audrey (March 11th) and Mason (May 30th)

IMG 7966

Don't worry we went through this with the older cousins as well, they'll eventually "get it" :)

The Babies (Set 4)

Sandra is expecting grand baby #13 in September, Titus (September 17th), Papa is holding Carter and Mommer is holding Nolan and I'll be honest I can't remember their birthdays for sure. I think Carter was born in January but it could have been February and Nolan was February 20th (maybe?)

IMG 7984

We were curious to see who was taller Alexa or Ava… Alexa was by a smidge :)

IMG 7986

It was a really fun day of hanging out making memories together, and I'm certain it's one that they kids will not soon forget. They truly love their cousins and their cousins love them.

What a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful and CRAZY family!!
